Preserving the Spectral Window State between Sessions

An NMRView user may spend considerable time creating and configuring a group of display windows. To avoid having to recreate this display in the case of a computer malfunction or when starting up a new session of work it is useful to save the current state of the window parameters. The user will find the "Save State" item in the File menu. Selecting this entry will create a text file named ".nmrview" in the current directory. This file contains all the parameters describing the NMRView display environment, including window names, sizes, locations and display attributes, as well as which datasets were opened in the session. When restarting NMRView simply choose the "Load State" item in the File menu and the previous files will be loaded and the display environment recreated. At present this file can only be named ".nmrview". To maintain different states for different projects the user should run NMRView from within different directories.

Examining the .nmrview file with a text editor can be educational.
